DESIGNING YOUR RING

After our initial chat, I’ll create digital sketches to help you visualise your bespoke ring. We'll refine the design together to make sure it feels just right.

There are several ways we can create your unique piece:

  • Customising an existing piece from my collection

  • Designing from scratch based on your ideas, story, or inspiration

0 3

SOURCING GEMSTONES

Once we have decided on a design, I’ll show you a curated selection of gemstone options. I have access to a wide network of gemstone suppliers and can source specific colours, cuts, and carat sizes. I am happy to offer Canadian mined diamonds.

If you already have a gemstone or precious metal you’d like to use, I’d be delighted to incorporate them. We’ll discuss how to honour and reimagine them as part of your new design.

CRAFTING YOUR RING

Once you’ve approved the final design and selected your choice of material and stone/s, I’ll begin crafting your ring.
This usually takes 4–6 weeks, from the deposit is paid (50% of the cost) but if you're working towards a specific date, let me know—I’ll do everything I can to meet your timeline.

“I approached Alma for an engagement ring commission last year, and she was incredible throughout the whole process, quickly responding to my queries and keeping involved through regular updates.

Even though I'm wasn't based in London, through a series of phone calls and emails Alma was able to help me by designing the perfect custom ring. After approaching her with a rough idea, Alma helped me in settling on a specific design, including the metals, stones and setting. Alma very helpfully also sourced a selection of diamonds for me to choose from, that fit my specific budget and requirements.

Alma was fantastic in helping make quite a daunting process so easy and enjoyable. I couldn't recommend Alma's services enough.”

Roxane's Bespoke Ring Design - Crafted by Alma Sophia

Bespoke - Roxane´s Story

  • I first met Roxane at my Open Studios where she mentioned she had precious stones that were gifted to her. Having seen my designs, specifically the double ring, she wanted to have some new rings made in this style with her own stones.

We scheduled a meeting where I could see the stones she had, measure her ring size, and discuss her vision in more detail. In our first meeting, we chatted through her ideas and I made some rough sketches then and there. I also photographed her stones and with these images I created a number of design options on the computer, which included stacking rings & double rings, and sent these to Roxane to review.

She had a definite favourite, but still wanted to run over a few more details in person, so we met up again and she decided on the final design. Roxane did not have a fixed idea about what she wanted at the outset, and through our conversations her initial idea evolved into something quite unique and bold.

  • “Last year I was looking for a jeweller to make a pair of stacking rings using a couple of stones that my husband had brought me back from India … We arranged to have a meeting at Alma´s studio, and after discussing forms, materials and costs, Alma came up with a design for my stones that was much more interesting than the pair of stacking rings I had originally envisaged. I decided to go ahead with the commission and was delighted with the result. I found the whole process very enjoyable.”

Martin´s Custom Ring - Bespoke Jewellery Commission by Alma Sophia

Customise - Martin´s Story

  • Martin came to me interested in a custom engagement ring for his girlfriend. He really liked the designs from my Latitude Collection, but was unsure whether something like this would be within his budget.

We had an initial conversation, and with his budget in mind we decided that 14ct gold would be the best option. Because he was looking for something alternative, I sourced some aquamarines & tourmaline stones for him to look at. Next, we scheduled an in-person meeting where he was able to hold some sample rings and also see the stones I had picked out.

Through our conversation I got a clear idea of what he was looking for, and I was then able to give him a sense of what the design would look like. Martin picked a beautiful pale aquamarine for a Latitude Solitaire Design, and I started making the ring straight away.

  • “Working with Alma was a pleasure. She balanced my input and guided me with her expertise in making the right decisions. Alma showed me how she worked the whole time; that was neat. That, together with her skills, made me very happy with the outcome.”

Anniken´s Unique Ring Commission - Handcrafted by Alma Sophia

Remodel - Anniken´s Story

  • Anniken inherited an old cross pendant that had belonged to her grandmother. She felt she was not going to wear it but had the idea that the Garnet stones could be reused to create something special.

She was familiar with the stacking rings in my Lines of Latitude Collection and thought it would be nice to make a few rings in this style. We met and discussed options in person. I then designed some rings on the computer using images of her stones, and presented these to her.

After Anniken chose her favourite design, I started on the pieces. With my skillset and expertise I was able to give her guidance and a wider creative framework for what was possible.

  • “I wanted to renew and create a new modern piece from my grandmother´s stones, an idea I had for a long time, so that the pieces I inherited could be worn and used, and not stored away in a box. I only had an idea of the style of jewellery I wanted, but not a clear vision of the design or piece… Alma gave me digital sketches of many different designs, that both challenged what I wanted and broadened my view as to what was possible to create. It also gave me the confidence to trust Alma´s own ideas for my piece... I really enjoyed the joint design prosess, where Alma could understand and translate my vague vision into a modern unique piece that I will treasure.”
